The Predict the World Cup scoring system works as follows:
The following examples show the points you would score in a theoretical World Cup game between Brazil and Honduras. The bonuses would depend on what other people predicted - but most people would normally predict a Brazil win. Notice how the number of bonus points you score rises if your World Cup predictions are less likely.
|Actual Score||You Predict||Exact Score
|Base Points||Bonus Points||Total Points|
|Brazil 2 Honduras 0||2-1||1||0||1|
|Brazil 2 Honduras 0||2-0||3||0||3|
|Brazil 1 Honduras 1||2-2||1||2||3|
|Brazil 5 Honduras 0||5-0||3||2||5|
|Brazil 1 Honduras 3||1-3||3||4||7|
If two people are level on points their position in the World Cup standings will be determined by goal difference
The system uses the result at the end of extra times for games in the knock out stages. This means that for the purposes of this game, the result of knock out games can be a draw.
